Every year we are blessed with a new plethora of popular baby names. Parents flock to this list wanting to stay trendy and up with the times of their social peers.
I as a mom of two boys, I say screw conventions and what is trendy. That little bundle of joy is all the hard work you put into making a baby. Name your child whatever you want to name them!!!!! Personally I love traditional names and named my boys Michael and Nicolas. Their middle names were based of the first names of their grandfathers. I wanted their names to have a special meaning behind them, not just a trendy name off a list. Don't be pressured Moms and Dads!!!!!
Now in the 90's the Top Names were:
Very traditional and clean cut names. There were not many different plays on spelling or adding unique numeral characters into babies names.
In the 2000's names became very interesting! We saw a spin on traditional names and an edgier appearance to name spellings. To be honest I thought it was fun to expand out with something cool, but as a teacher it made it very difficult to pronounce some of the names of my students. Parents should keep the ability to pronounce, spell, and how popular the name is going to go over with peers; when naming their children!
With 2016 approaching, it has been decided that greek mythological names will have a huge impact on the naming charts this year. I personally find some of these to be particularly cute and others I really don't like at all.
So here they are; Top Names of 2016:
