If your anything like me, you are or have spent sleepless nights holding a crying baby while trying to sooth their discomfort. It is so difficult to watch your baby cry in pain and feel so helpless to sooth their poor teething gums.
With my first son, I was completely clueless! My baby had spiked a low grade fever and was crying while pulling on his ear. I thought he was getting an ear infection since it was winter. I made an appointment first thing the next morning, only to find out that all the tears and wailing were from teething. The doctor suggested Tylenol and an ointment to rub on his gums (Orajel) for the pain.
The Tylenol helped with the fever , but my poor baby was suffering still!!!!!
So here are the 5 Top Tips I found to be a LIFESAVER!!!!!!
1. Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder is my #1 CHOICE
I would let my son sit in his high chair and put cut up popsicles and frozen strawberries in the pouch. He would go to town on his special treat all while icing his gums down!
I know what you are thinking! Why wouldn't you just buy a teether than can be frozen. I could, but most kids hate them because they get too cold to hold on their little hands. With a washcloth I can wet freeze half and keep the other half dry for the baby to hold. My son absolutely loved the texture and the sensation on his gums!
3. Vibrating Strawberry/Grape Teether
This little beauty is a real treat for your baby's gums. It is only activated as they bite down on it which saves the battery life and prevents any awkward switches. The vibrating sensation stimulates the gums and soothes the itching that sometimes happens as a tooth is poking through the surface!
4. Baby Orajel-Homeopathic Teething Gel
With the soothing power of Chamomilla (commonly known as Chamomile), Baby Orajel Homeopathic Teething Gel offers safe, effective, and naturally derived teething pain relief for your baby.
If you’re baby is game, rub his face, jaw and gums in a circular motion. Sometimes they’ll resist but other times it hits the spot. You might notice that your baby “self massages” by rubbing her jaw against her mattress or pulling her ears while nursing.
I hope this gives some of you frustrated parents out there some help during the late nights we all put in with teething infants. Good Luck Parents!!!!!!!!!
